The High Court has clarified that there is no requirement to place complete details of all 300 divisions related to ward reorganization in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) in the public domain. Modifying the earlier order passed by a single judge, the division bench stated that only details of two specific divisions need to be disclosed.
The court directed GHMC authorities to upload maps and population data related only to Divisions 104 and 134, which are under challenge in the petitions. It emphasized that publishing information of all wards is not mandatory at this stage.
Petitions were filed challenging the preliminary notification issued for increasing the number of GHMC divisions. Earlier, the single judge had instructed the GHMC Commissioner to upload all ward-related details within 24 hours. Challenging this directive, the State Chief Secretary and GHMC Commissioner approached the Division Bench.
After hearing arguments, the bench clarified that it is not entering into the merits of the case for now and restricted the scope of disclosure only to the two contested wards. The court also granted petitioners 48 hours to raise objections as per municipal rules.
