Sankranti festival rush is being felt across Telugu states as Hyderabad residents travel to their native places. Railway stations and bus stands are bustling with passengers, with MGBS and JBS bus terminals particularly crowded. Buses are filling up quickly the moment they arrive at stands, and passengers are waiting for hours in queues. Special bus services are operating from Gachibowli, LB Nagar, Uppal Crossroad, KPHB, and Boyinapalli to accommodate the festival travelers. Hyderabad State RTC (TGSRTC) is running 6,431 special buses, while APSRTC is operating 600 special buses, including services to Vijayawada, where both bus stands and railway stations are seeing heavy rush.
Traffic congestion is also reported on major roads, including Hyderabad–Vijayawada route and at Pothangi Toll Plaza. Vehicles are moving slowly near the Andhra Pradesh–Telangana border and Chillakallu. To manage the festival rush, special trains have also been scheduled. Authorities are closely monitoring passenger and vehicular movement to ensure smooth travel during the Sankranti festivities.
