The United States has once again reiterated its tough stance on visa policies, making it clear that a visa is a privilege and not a constitutional right. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio warned that visas would be revoked if foreign visitors engage in activities that go against American national interests. He stated that the policy applies to all categories, including students, tourists, and journalists. Over the past year, several visas have been cancelled under the strengthened enforcement measures.
Speaking during a meeting with the Hungarian Prime Minister, Rubio emphasized that a visa is merely permission to enter the country and not an entitlement. He cautioned that individuals entering the US under the guise of tourism and engaging in anti national activities would face immediate cancellation of their visas. The US has recently tightened its visa issuance process and suspended visa services to several countries, taking the total number of affected nations to 75. White House officials stated that migration from certain countries has been impacting employment opportunities for American citizens beyond acceptable levels.
