The strike siren has once again sounded in the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (RTC). Leaders of the RTC employees’ Joint Action Committee (JAC) submitted strike notices to senior officials at Bus Bhavan on Friday. Later, the JAC leaders also submitted a formal notice at the Labour Commissioner’s office, indicating that employees are ready to launch a strike if their issues remain unresolved.
The union leaders stated that a final decision on the strike date will be taken after 14 days. They warned that if the government fails to address their demands, the strike will become inevitable. The employees have demanded immediate steps to merge RTC staff into government service, implement the 2021 pay revision with 30 percent fitment, release pending dues of ₹2,500 crore, ensure job security, conduct union recognition elections, and reduce the excessive workload on employees across all categories.
