Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has directed officials to explore the full potential of solar power generation in the state. He emphasized that Rayalaseema districts hold significant scope for large-scale solar energy projects and suggested attracting investments in the renewable energy sector. The Chief Minister also instructed authorities to plan transmission infrastructure in advance so that surplus power generated in the future can be supplied to other states. These directions were issued during the 16th State Investment Promotion Board (SIPB) meeting held at the Secretariat, where several ministers and senior officials were present.
The board approved investment proposals worth ₹39,436.84 crore across industries, power, IT, tourism, and food processing sectors, which are expected to generate employment for over 1,11,278 people through 31 projects. Officials informed that the state has a potential of generating 325 GW of solar power. The Chief Minister stressed the importance of connecting production to state and central grids while avoiding underutilization issues seen in other states. He also highlighted the need to boost electronics manufacturing, establish component industries in key regions, promote GCCs, and utilize agricultural and aquaculture waste for eco-friendly by-products like ethanol.
