In view of Hyderabad Metro Rail services currently commencing at 6 a.m., South Central Railway General Manager Sanjay Kumar Srivastava has recently requested Chief Secretary Ramakrishna Rao to consider taking steps to begin services from 5 a.m. He noted that a large number of passengers from various states across the country arrive in Hyderabad by train every day.
He stated that major trains reach railway stations such as Secunderabad and Nampally between 4:30 a.m. and 7 a.m. Additionally, Vande Bharat, Rajdhani, and Telangana Express trains from Hyderabad to cities like Tirupati, Delhi, Visakhapatnam, and Bengaluru depart between 5 a.m. and 6:20 a.m. During this time, the absence of metro services causes inconvenience to passengers.
He further mentioned that a letter was earlier sent to Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited (HMRL) regarding this issue, but the response indicated that timing changes were not feasible due to technical and operational constraints. While metro services currently begin at 6 a.m. from Nagole, Miyapur, and LB Nagar stations, the first metro arrival at Secunderabad and Nampally stations occurs only between 6:20 a.m. and 6:30 a.m., he added.
