Retired IAS officer Anil Chandr Punetha is set to be appointed as the State Election Commissioner. Reports indicate that Chief Minister Chandrababu has given his approval for the appointment. The formal process is expected to be completed soon with the Governor’s assent. Punetha previously served as the Chief Secretary of the state in 2019. It is also noted that he was removed from the post by the Election Commission of India following complaints filed by the YSR Congress Party during the election period.
Meanwhile, retired IAS officer and former Chief Secretary Neerab Kumar is likely to be appointed as the Vigilance Commissioner in place of Punetha. These developments mark key administrative changes in the state. The appointments have gained significance within government circles.
