New Year 2026 celebrations across Cyberabad were conducted smoothly and peacefully with no major incidents, due to meticulous planning and continuous monitoring by the Cyberabad Police. Cyberabad CP Dr. M. Ramesh, IPS, personally supervised the arrangements, while Joint CP (Traffic) Dr. Gajarao Bhupal, IPS, and all Law & Order and Traffic DCPs remained on field to ensure safe celebrations and smooth traffic flow across the commissionerate limits.
As part of a special drunk driving enforcement drive conducted from the night of December 31 to the morning of January 1, a total of 55 police teams were deployed and 928 motorists were booked for driving under the influence. The cases included 695 two-wheelers, 31 three-wheelers, 199 four-wheelers and 3 heavy vehicles. Offenders’ driving licences will be forwarded to the concerned RTAs for suspension under the Motor Vehicles Act. High-alcohol cases were mainly reported from Miyapur, Gachibowli, Kukatpally, Raidurgam, Medchal, Narsingi, Rajendranagar and KPHB areas. No major road accidents were reported during the celebrations.
To facilitate smooth and congestion-free movement, free shuttle services were operated from major party hubs to nearby Metro stations and cab pick-up points. Cyberabad Police thanked citizens for their cooperation and confirmed that strict drunk-driving enforcement will continue throughout the year under the Zero Tolerance policy. They also extended New Year 2026 greetings and urged citizens to drive responsibly.
