The government of Andhra Pradesh has introduced changes to the nutrition menu provided to children in Anganwadi centres. Under the revised plan, children will now receive egg fried rice twice a week as part of their meal. Along with this, boiled chickpeas will also be served on the same days to improve the nutritional value of the food provided to children.
Officials stated that the new menu replaces the previously served tamarind rice. The government has also made changes to the Bal Amrutham nutrition supplement provided to infants. Under the revised system, Junior Bal Amrutham will be given to children aged between seven and twelve months, while Senior Bal Amrutham will be provided to children aged between thirteen and thirty-six months. The initiative aims to strengthen nutrition support for children at Anganwadi centres.
