Nationwide Gig Workers’ Strike Today, App-Based Services Likely to Be Hit!

A nationwide strike by gig workers is being observed today, leading to major disruptions in app-based services across India. Food delivery platforms such as Swiggy and Zomato are expected to remain unavailable, while quick-commerce apps including Zepto and Blinkit are displaying “no service” messages in several locations. Services offered by ride-hailing platforms like Rapido, Ola, and Uber are also likely to be affected.

In addition, logistics, e-commerce deliveries, and domestic help services dependent on gig workers may face interruptions throughout the day. The strike has been called to demand fair wages, job security, insurance coverage, and improved working conditions. As part of the protest, workers are logging out of all gig platforms, resulting in suspension of deliveries, ride bookings, and home-service operations nationwide.
