Minister for Rural Development and Panchayat Raj, D. Anasuya (Seethakka), urged the media to highlight the grandeur and cultural significance of the Medaram Sammakka Saralamma Jatra to the world. At the media center set up near the festival site, she distributed T-shirts to journalists and media representatives covering the event on Wednesday. Minister Seethakka noted that despite the festival’s massive crowd, which draws millions of devotees, the arrangements preserved the dignity, traditions, and rituals of the tribal communities.
Minister Seethakka stated that road widening, improved sanitation, electricity decoration, and queue management facilities were arranged to ensure devotees do not face any inconvenience. For the four-day festival, toilets, drinking water, and additional sanitation staff were deployed well in advance. She added that around 20 lakh devotees attended this year’s Jatra. The Minister also emphasized that media coverage can showcase the grandeur of the festival to the world and promised larger halls and better facilities for journalists in the upcoming Jatra.
