YSRCP chief and former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy has strongly criticized Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s population policy, questioning the rationale behind encouraging larger families for the poor while pointing out that Naidu’s family has had only one child in each generation.
Reacting to the government’s incentives for third and fourth children, Jagan said such policies could burden economically weaker sections already struggling with rising costs of education, healthcare, and daily living. He added that population policy should focus on improving quality of life and opportunities rather than increasing birth rates.
