The “Telangana Gaddar Cine Awards” event was held grandly at Hitec City with great celebrations. At the event, Megastar Chiranjeevi received the prestigious ‘NTR National Film Award’ from Chief Minister Revanth Reddy. While speaking at the event, Chiranjeevi said that compared to Telangana, Andhra Pradesh is slightly behind in encouraging the film industry. He suggested that the Andhra Pradesh government, led by N. Chandrababu Naidu, should take inspiration from such award events and support artists more actively.
However, his comments quickly led to criticism on social media. Many netizens argued that film personalities rarely shoot in Andhra Pradesh or contribute to the growth of the industry there and mostly approach the government only for ticket price hikes. Some also pointed out that when film awards were not given in Telangana for several years earlier, similar concerns were not raised. They further mentioned that while Andhra Pradesh often approves requests like ticket price hikes quickly, such flexibility is not always seen in Telangana, citing recent issues with permissions for certain films. Due to these reasons, critics say Chiranjeevi’s comments are not entirely fair, leading to trolling and debates online.
