The Maharashtra government has introduced significant changes in the state’s public transport system. The decision was announced on the occasion of Maharashtra Day, observed on May 1. The Transport Department has issued new guidelines, bringing changes to the regulations governing auto-rickshaw and taxi drivers across the state.
Under the new rules, having a basic understanding of the Marathi language has been made mandatory for obtaining a permit or continuing as a driver in Maharashtra.
