AP Congress chief Y. S. Sharmila has written an open letter to Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu expressing strong concerns over the proposed delimitation process based on the 2011 census. She stated that the move could significantly impact Andhra Pradesh’s political representation and future economic prospects. According to her, the state risks losing both influence and potential financial opportunities.
Sharmila urged the Chief Minister to openly oppose the proposal, stating that it could be unfair to southern states, especially Andhra Pradesh. She also called for uniting all Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha members from the state, regardless of party affiliations, to vote against the bill in Parliament.
Additionally, she suggested convening a special session of the Andhra Pradesh Assembly to discuss the issue and pass a resolution rejecting the proposed delimitation framework. She emphasized that this is not just a political decision, but a constitutional responsibility to safeguard people’s rights and the future of coming generations.
