

Iran has reacted strongly to the death of Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in a joint US-Israeli attack. The Iranian government has warned that it will take revenge for the incident. The Iranian cabinet has made it clear that it will not leave Khamenei's death without giving a befitting reply. Amidst the atmosphere of mourning across the country, the Revolutionary Guards have also reacted strongly.
In a statement, the Iranian Revolutionary Guards said that those who killed their supreme leader would be severely punished. They warned that if necessary, there could be unprecedented retaliation. Local media reported that they are preparing a major operation targeting US and Israeli bases. Ali Shamkhani, a key advisor to Khamenei, and Mohammad Pakpour, IRGC chief, were confirmed to have been killed in the attacks. In this context, it was announced that former Defense Minister Ahmad Vahidi has been appointed as the new commander-in-chief.
