Fresh militant movements have once again triggered tension in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kishtwar district. Early on Wednesday morning, the Indian Army launched a major anti-terror operation, “Operation Chatru,” in the remote Chatru region, following credible intelligence inputs about terrorist infiltration. According to the official statement from the White Knight Corps, the Indian Army and Jammu & Kashmir Police jointly began the operation to locate and neutralize the suspected militants hiding in the area. Exchange of fire was reported during the encounter.
Intelligence sources believe that two to three militants are present in the region and have been operating actively for the past few months. The Army has been keeping a close watch on their movements.
As Operation Chatru is still ongoing in Kishtwar, details of the three terrorists are yet to be known. The high-altitude Chatru area of Kishtwar district has been witnessing sporadic militant activity since last year. Due to this, security forces have recently intensified counter-terrorism operations in the area. As Operation Chhatru is still ongoing in Kishtwar, details of the three terrorists are yet to be known.
