India has expressed concern over delays in the issuance of H-1B visas and repeated cancellations of visa appointments. The Ministry of External Affairs stated that it has received several complaints from Indian applicants facing difficulties in scheduling or rescheduling U.S. visa appointments.
While acknowledging that visa processing falls under the sovereign jurisdiction of the United States, India has formally conveyed these concerns to U.S. authorities. MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said the matter was raised keeping in mind the hardships faced by Indian nationals.
India also responded to a recent incident in Canada involving the death of a person of Indian origin due to a heart attack. Clarifying its position, India stated that the individual held Canadian citizenship, and therefore the responsibility lies with the Canadian government.
The victim’s wife had alleged that despite admitting her husband to a hospital with severe chest pain, they were made to wait for nearly eight hours for treatment, ultimately leading to his death. India emphasized accountability while respecting international jurisdictions.
