The process of transferring Hyderabad Metro Rail operations from Larsen & Toubro (L&T) to the Telangana government will be completed by March 2026, officials announced.
During a high-level review meeting chaired by Chief Secretary K. Ramakrishna Rao, officials were instructed to ensure a smooth, time-bound transition within the current financial year. He emphasized that the process should not disrupt existing agreements and directed that it be implemented systematically over the next 100 days. The transaction advisor, IDBI, has been asked to finalize its report at the earliest to expedite the process. L&T has also been directed to extend full cooperation during the transition.
After the takeover, HMRL Managing Director Sarfaraz Ahmad has been instructed to prepare proposals related to operations and maintenance for the post-transition phase.
