

In a historic moment at the London Marathon, Kenya’s Sebastian Sawe created a new world record by completing the race in 1 hour, 59 minutes, and 30 seconds, becoming the first athlete to finish the marathon in under two hours. He surpassed the previous record set by Eliud Kipchoge in 2023 (2:00:34), breaking it by a margin of 65 seconds. Adding to the remarkable achievement, runner-up Yomif Kejelcha also finished the race in under two hours.
In the women’s category, Ethiopia’s Tigist Assefa once again proved her dominance by rewriting her own record, finishing the marathon in 2 hours, 15 minutes, and 41 seconds. The event witnessed extraordinary performances, marking a new era in long-distance running and setting higher benchmarks for athletes worldwide.
