

Oscar fans around the world have a reason to celebrate as the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced that the Academy Awards will be streamed exclusively on YouTube from 2029 to 2033. The Academy has entered into a multi-year partnership with YouTube, marking a major shift in how the prestigious awards ceremony reaches global audiences.
Under the agreement, YouTube will not only stream the Oscars ceremony but also offer extensive related content, including the red carpet pre-show, behind-the-scenes footage, Governors Awards, nominations announcements, nominees’ luncheon, Student Academy Awards, and Scientific and Technical Awards on the official Oscars YouTube channel.
Academy CEO Bill Kramer and President Lynette Howell Taylor said the partnership would significantly expand the Oscars’ global reach and benefit the film community. YouTube CEO Neil Mohan described the Oscars as a vital cultural institution that celebrates storytelling and creativity, adding that the collaboration would inspire a new generation of filmmakers and movie lovers while strengthening the role of streaming platforms in the future of live events.
