Late-night violence broke out at Nizampet Corporation’s Rajiv Gruha Kalpa colony, when a group of youths reportedly under the influence of ganja and alcohol attacked two residents. According to police, the incident occurred around 11 PM on Monday when Tarun Naik and Seetharam Naik were returning home in an auto.
A local gang led by Tilak, already intoxicated, stopped their vehicle and attacked them with sticks, leaving both injured with head wounds. The victims lodged a complaint at Bachupalli Police Station, following which police took Tilak into custody and began searching for the other three accomplices.
Locals allege that Tilak’s gang has been selling and using ganja across several blocks in the colony, threatening anyone who questions their activities. Resident Ramachandra Naik expressed concern, saying, We are living in fear. They are luring young boys into drug use. If this continues, the colony will no longer be safe to live in.
Police have assured strict action and promised safety to the residents.
