Five people lost their lives after the New Ahobilam Temple, which was under construction, collapsed in South Africa. The tragic incident occurred on Friday in Redcliffe, located in the KwaZulu-Natal province.
Officials confirmed that Vikky Jairaj Pandey (52), an executive member of the temple trust and the project manager, was among those who died in the accident. At the time of the collapse, construction workers and several temple officials were present at the site.
Authorities stated that it is still unclear how many people may be trapped under the debris. Rescue operations are ongoing, with teams working to clear the rubble and search for survivors.
Temple organizers said that stone materials were sourced from India for the construction, and the plan was to install a large idol of Lord Narasimha at the temple.
