Devotees narrowly escaped a major mishap at the renowned pilgrimage center of Srisailam. A fire accident occurred on Friday in a VIP cottage designated for devotees’ accommodation. The incident was reportedly caused by a sudden short circuit in the air conditioner installed in the room, which led to flames erupting. Thick smoke quickly spread from the AC unit and within moments, the fire engulfed the entire room. Devotees present inside were caught off guard and rushed out in panic, while those staying in adjacent rooms also evacuated the cottage fearing for their safety.
Upon receiving information, fire department personnel promptly reached the spot and initiated emergency measures. Acting swiftly, they brought the fire under control and prevented it from spreading to other rooms. Fortunately, no injuries were reported in the incident, bringing relief to devotees and officials alike. Preliminary reports suggest that the short circuit may have been caused due to excessive load on the air conditioner or possible wiring defects. Temple authorities have initiated an inquiry into the incident.
