Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy urged people to support the Musi River rejuvenation project, stating that it is aimed at protecting the environment and ensuring the future development of Hyderabad. Speaking at the Musi Invites program, he said some groups were spreading half-truths and misinformation that were unnecessarily creating fear among the public. The Chief Minister emphasized that the government believes in using power as a responsibility to serve people, not to dominate them, and therefore decided to explain the project transparently to the public.
Revanth Reddy highlighted that rivers have historically played a crucial role in the growth of civilizations and reminded that the devastating 1908 Musi Floods once submerged Hyderabad. He noted that reservoirs like Himayat Sagar and Osman Sagar were built to control floods and provide drinking water. The Chief Minister said the Musi project aims to restore the river, improve urban infrastructure, boost tourism, and create employment opportunities. He assured that the government has no intention of harming the poor and will provide proper housing and support to people living along the riverbanks.
