In the United States, American political commentator Mark Mitchell made hateful remarks against H-1B visa holders, especially Indian employees. He claimed that one H-1B worker is equivalent to 10 illegal immigrants and said that Silicon Valley has a large number of foreign workers. He alleged that some tech companies employ 85–95 percent Indians and are heavily dependent on foreign engineers willing to work for lower wages.
Mitchell, who is the CEO of Rasmussen Reports, made these comments at an event hosted by Steve Bannon. He criticized the use of H-1B visas, calling it exploitation and accusing companies of replacing Americans with foreign workers. According to the 2025 Industry Index, 66 percent of tech jobs in Silicon Valley are held by foreigners, including 23 percent Indians.
In this context, Mitchell said he would start a consultancy to reduce the number of Indians in major US companies. His remarks have drawn strong criticism on social media, with many calling them racist and discriminatory.
