Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has directed officials to ensure that all villages in the state are provided with road connectivity and safe drinking water facilities by December 2028. During a meeting held at his Undavalli residence with Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, the two leaders reviewed the progress of Panchayat Raj and Rural Development schemes. They stressed the need to prioritize rural infrastructure, prevent drinking water shortages, and prepare a phased implementation plan over the next three years. Discussions were also held on the ongoing and proposed works under the Jal Jeevan Mission, as well as projects to be funded through the 16th Finance Commission grants and the upcoming V.B. Jirramji programme from April. The Chief Minister emphasized optimal utilization of central schemes and suggested exploring the feasibility of supplying water to scarcity-hit villages from nearby reservoirs.
Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan briefed the Chief Minister about the construction of ‘Magic Drains’ in various panchayats and proposed expanding the model across the state to strengthen sanitation management. He also requested desilting of irrigation department drains during summer to ensure timely completion before the sowing season. The Deputy CM thanked the Chief Minister for allocating funds to strengthen the Panchayat system despite the state’s challenging financial condition, and appreciated his guidance in accelerating road construction and drinking water projects.
