The Ministry of Railways has delivered another major boost to Andhra Pradesh with the extension of the Vijayawada–Chennai Vande Bharat Express up to Narasapuram. The extended service was formally inaugurated on Monday at Narasapuram Railway Station by Union Minister of State Bhupathiraju Srinivasa Varma, who flagged off the train amid enthusiastic celebrations. A grand rally was organised in Narasapuram town, with the participation of Water Resources Minister Nimmala Ramanaidu, Deputy Speaker Raghurama Krishnam Raju, and MLAs Venigandla Ramu and Bommidi Nayakar.
The extension comes after persistent requests from local residents, as the Vande Bharat Express earlier operated only between Vijayawada and Chennai Central. Following representations, the matter was taken up with Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, leading to official approval. The service will significantly benefit passengers from Narasapuram, Bhimavaram, Gudivada, and surrounding regions of Krishna and West Godavari districts. The train, numbered 20678/20677, will operate as per the newly announced schedule, enhancing connectivity and travel comfort for the region.
