The CBI has officially closed the Ayesha Meera case, which had created nationwide sensation. The investigation, which began in 2019 following High Court directives, lasted six years. Despite the relentless efforts of her parents over 19 years, the agency stated that no new evidence was found to proceed further. The CBI admitted it could not determine the actual perpetrator behind the brutal murder of 19-year-old Ayesha Meera, who was killed on December 27, 2007, at the Women’s Hostel in Ibrahimpatnam, Krishna district.
Her parents had sought the post-mortem remains of their daughter for further investigation, but the CBI maintained that no additional leads were available. The court has approved conducting Ayesha Meera’s last rites according to religious customs on February 27, marking the end of a prolonged legal battle that began nearly two decades ago.
