Amaravati, November 27:
Central investigation agencies have detected large-scale corruption and illegal activities in multiple medical colleges across the state. In this context, ED officials carried out simultaneous raids on Thursday. Earlier, several allegations surfaced regarding massive irregularities in the allotment of NMC (National Medical Council) PG seats in certain private medical colleges.
Following these allegations, the CBI questioned members of the Medical Council as well as representatives of the medical colleges for several hours. After the preliminary investigation, the ED initiated direct action and conducted searches.
Meanwhile, the ED also conducted nationwide raids. Searches were carried out in 10 states, including Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
The CBI found that some medical colleges were creating temporary setups to mislead the NMC inspection teams. It also discovered that several colleges obtained approvals without complying with NMC guidelines. Based on the FIR filed by the CBI, the ED launched its series of raids.
