Controversy erupted during an Indian Premier League 2026 match between Chennai Super Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad after a fan was spotted performing unusual rituals with lemons in the stands, sparking widespread debate. A letter claiming that CSK had officially complained against SRH over alleged “black magic” practices went viral on social media, creating further confusion.
However, former IPL chairman Lalit Modi dismissed the letter as fake. While clarifying the misinformation, he made a startling revelation that in the past, a franchise owner had allegedly followed superstitious rituals inside an opponent’s dressing room. Modi noted that the recent incident appears fabricated but hinted that such practices were not entirely unheard of in the league’s history.
