The Nizam region of Telangana is considered the biggest box office territory for Telugu cinema, contributing a major share of revenues for many films. However, the industry has been facing difficulties in the region over the past year due to political and legal factors. After the Sandhya Theatre stampede controversy, the state government became cautious about granting ticket price hikes and additional shows. The High Court also took a strict stance against last-minute requests for ticket price increases and advised the government to avoid granting special permissions without proper approval.
Amid these challenges, the recent development has brought relief to the Telugu film industry. The Supreme Court has reportedly struck down a High Court condition that required producers to apply for ticket price hikes at least 90 days in advance. With several big-budget films preparing for release this year, the decision is being seen as a positive step for Tollywood. Industry circles believe that if the government provides clear policies on ticket pricing and regulations, the Nizam market could once again become a strong and stable revenue source for Telugu cinema.
