

An encounter reportedly took place between the District Reserve Guard (DRG) and Maoists in the Gollapalli forest area of Sukma district. According to initial information, three Maoists were killed in the exchange of fire. However, the identities of the deceased are yet to be officially confirmed.
From early morning, intermittent gunfire was heard in the forest region, prompting authorities to place the area on high alert. Following the encounter, police recovered a large cache of weapons from the spot, indicating the intensity of the operation.
As per national media reports, anti-Naxal operations are still underway in the region. Acting on intelligence inputs about Maoist movement, security forces had launched a search operation, during which Maoists allegedly opened fire, leading to retaliatory action by the forces. Police suspect that while some Maoists were killed, others who were injured managed to escape into the forest. Additional security forces have been deployed, and the entire area has been brought under control. A detailed official statement is expected after the completion of combing operations, following which the details of the deceased will be announced. Tension continues to prevail in the Gollapalli forest area, with the district administration closely monitoring the situation.
