iBomma administrator Imadhi Ravi’s arrest has created a major buzz across the Telugu states, with several shocking details emerging about his past. Reports suggest that Ravi’s life took a dark turn due to years of emotional abuse and bullying within his marriage. After facing constant humiliation from his wife and in-laws over his low income, Ravi—who previously worked legitimately in domain services, server management, and website development—lost his self-esteem and eventually opted for divorce. This emotional breakdown reportedly pushed him towards quick-money options, leading him into the world of movie piracy. He became so deeply involved in the illegal network that he even revoked his Indian passport and applied for St. Kitts and Nevis citizenship to escape legal consequences.
Ravi’s case mirrors that of Ashwani Kumar, a college dropout arrested earlier for hacking into digital cinema distribution networks like QUBE and UFO. Ashwani too suffered years of bullying due to his physical appearance and a squint eye, which forced him out of school and pushed him toward self-learning hacking through online tutorials—a skill he later misused for film piracy. Ravi was finally arrested in a dramatic manner when he returned to India to liquidate his assets. Authorities discovered Rs. 20 crore across two bank accounts and seized Rs. 3.5 crore during his arrest. His bank accounts have been frozen, and notices were issued to financial institutions based on the cards and chequebooks recovered from his residence.
