Versatile actor R. Madhavan, who is currently enjoying the success of ‘Dhurandhar-2’ and gearing up for the release of his upcoming film ‘GDN’, recently shared a valuable lesson from his career. Speaking in an interview, Madhavan revealed that there was a phase when he was advised that achieving superstar status similar to Rajinikanth required appealing to audiences in B and C centres. Influenced by this belief, he agreed to star in a film that was designed to attract mass audiences, despite feeling that the story and character did not truly suit him.
The actor recalled that the film featured him as a struggling, uneducated young man aspiring to become a cricketer. Although the project incorporated several commercial and mass elements, it failed at the box office. Madhavan said the failure taught him an important lesson about blindly following external advice. He emphasized that success comes from understanding one’s own strengths and making informed choices rather than trying to imitate someone else’s path. The experience, he added, became a turning point in his career and outlook toward filmmaking.
