The Paradise Gets Mixed Response: Too Much Mass?

Nani and Srikanth Odela’s The Paradise has arrived in theatres amid considerable expectations following their previous collaboration Dasara. Set around the Savari community, the film follows Jadal, played by Nani, as he becomes involved in his mother Sammakka’s fight for the rights and identity of their community. His confrontation with Shikhanj Malik, who controls the Paradise area, forms the central conflict. The film’s action sequences, particularly the interval block, along with the emotional moments between Jadal and his mother, have emerged as notable highlights.

At the same time, the film has received mixed reactions over its treatment of violence and mass elements. Some viewers feel that the excessive violence does not always translate into the intended emotional impact. The slower pace in the second half and the hero-villain conflict not reaching its expected intensity have also affected the overall response. Nani’s transformation for Jadal, including his look, body language and action performance, has been widely noticed. Sonali Kulkarni makes an impression as Sammakka, while Kayadu Lohar fits her role well. Mohan Babu’s Shikhanj Malik could have benefited from stronger characterisation. Anirudh Ravichander’s songs and background score, along with the cinematography and production values, remain among the film’s key strengths.
