A building can be demolished in minutes, but rebuilding it takes years the same goes for a person’s reputation. That perfectly sums up the journey of Ram Gopal Varma (RGV). Once hailed as one of India’s most brilliant filmmakers, RGV’s downfall over the past decade has been as dramatic as his films.
After delivering cult classics like Shiva, Rangeela, Satya, and Company, RGV lost his way. Instead of meaningful storytelling, he began making politically motivated and controversial films. His provocative tweets especially those targeting the Mega family, including Chiranjeevi and Pawan Kalyan alienated even his loyal fans.
Today, even die-hard followers have distanced themselves from him, and his films have been box-office disasters. However, after the YSRCP’s political defeat, sources say Varma realized the damage caused by his political alignment. He has now vowed to focus only on films, promising to “make good cinema again.”
In a surprising turn, RGV recently apologized to Chiranjeevi and praised Ram Charan’s “Peddi” song on social media. Yet, fans remain skeptical. A couple of positive posts won’t erase years of negativity. To truly regain his lost respect, RGV must prove his change through consistent work and genuine humility. Only then can he rebuild the reputation he once proudly held.
