Ram Charan’s wife and entrepreneur Upasana Konidela has opened up about her fitness journey, weight-loss struggles and the criticism she faced over her appearance. She revealed that she weighed 95 kg at the age of 18 while studying in the US. Being away from her family made her feel stressed, which led to emotional eating. She later consulted several dietitians and tried different diets before finding better results by replacing rice and wheat with oats and high-protein foods. She also made walking a daily habit, covering around 10,000 steps.
Upasana said she faced harsh comments about her weight even around the time of her marriage to Ram Charan, with some questioning whether she was a suitable match for him. Though the remarks initially hurt her, she said they eventually made her mentally stronger. She also revealed that she struggles with sleep and often gets only around four hours of sleep a day, a problem she says her mother also faces. Keeping this issue in mind, she is planning to launch a sleep clinic soon. Upasana added that lifestyle changes ultimately depend on one’s mindset. She also said she participates in spiritual activities with Charan, listens to Deepak Chopra’s courses and Sadhguru’s discourses, and works out and follows new diets with Charan. The couple have a three-year-old daughter, Klin Kaara, and welcomed twins Shivaram and Anveera Devi in January 2026.
