After the global success of RRR, Ram Charan returned to the big screen with Game Changer, directed by Shankar. Released during last year’s Sankranti season, the film failed to meet box-office expectations. Now, acclaimed filmmaker Karthik Subbaraj has shared details about the film’s original story. Known for movies such as Pizza, Petta, Mahaan and Jigarthanda, Subbaraj discussed the project during a recent interview while promoting his latest film, Dorothy.
Subbaraj revealed that he had originally written a realistic story for Game Changer, centred on an IAS officer who attempts to transform the system alongside his fellow officials, with the narrative presented through a gangster-style perspective. According to the filmmaker, Shankar liked the story when he narrated it and asked him to develop the screenplay. However, Subbaraj was occupied with the pre-production work for Mahaan and could not continue working on the project. He added that by the time Game Changer evolved into a big-budget film starring Ram Charan, the original story had undergone significant changes.
