At the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) closing ceremony in Goa, legendary South Indian film stars Rajinikanth and Nandamuri Balakrishna, who have completed 50 years in the business, will be honored. Dr. L. Murugan, the Union Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting, made the announcement, stating that the government wishes to formally acknowledge their historic year.
"This felicitation is a tribute to Rajinikanth and Balakrishna's extraordinary contribution to Indian cinema," he said. The film industry has been greatly influenced by their enormous popularity, cultural influence, and decades of superb storytelling. Both celebrities have enormous fan bases and are considered to be the foundation of South Indian cinema.
After making his screen debut in 1975 with Apoorva Raagangal, Rajinikanth has dominated Indian cinema for fifty years. In contrast, Balakrishna is an active politician who serves as the MLA for Hindupur and has acted in more than 100 films during his 50-year career. Earlier this year, he received the Padma Bhushan. 7500 delegates and 270 films from 84 countries will attend IFFI 2024, which takes place from November 20 to 27.
