Currently, Superstar Rajinikanth, who is acting in 'Jailer-2', has agreed to do a film in the production of his longtime friend Kamal Haasan after that. Fans have shown immense excitement over this historic pairing. Initially, senior director Sundar.C was selected for this project, but he shocked everyone by quitting just 10 days later. This led to the search for a new director. First, Lokesh Kanagaraj's name came up, but he was sidelined after 'Coolie' flopped.
Now, the name of young director Ram Kumar is making waves. He made a small film called 'Parking', which won two National Awards. However, doubts are arising whether a director who made such a small, classic-style film can handle a Rajinikanth movie. In fact, before Ram Kumar, Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan also considered Dhanush's name. Since Dhanush is Rajinikanth's son-in-law, he had prepared a story to direct Rajinikanth, but it wasn't feasible at that time. Later, Rajinikanth's daughter Aishwarya's divorce from Dhanush happened, and Dhanush became fully busy as an actor and director.
While scouting for directors for Rajinikanth's film under Kamal's production, Dhanush's name resurfaced. However, even though he has a story ready, Dhanush is in a situation where he can't take up the project immediately due to his commitments. So, they turned to Sundar.C, but he unexpectedly backed out. A few days later, Dhanush showed interest in doing a film with Rajinikanth. But by then, Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan had started discussions with Ram Kumar, and with that combination almost finalized, Rajinikanth did not respond positively to working with Dhanush, according to reports in Kollywood media.
