A major rift has erupted between Hanu-Man director Prasanth Varma and producer Niranjan Reddy over financial disputes, as both parties have filed official complaints and counter statements with the Tollywood Producer’s Council and Directors’ Association. Niranjan Reddy, in his letter dated October 11, 2025, alleged that he paid a total of ₹10 crore to Prasanth Varma for five future films under the “Prasanth Varma Cinematic Universe,” including Adhira, Mahakali, Jai Hanuman, Brahma Rakshas, and Octopus. The producer claimed that despite receiving large advances, Prasanth failed to begin production, deviated from his commitments, and instead collaborated with other producers. He sought ₹200 crore in compensation and requested leading production houses to halt all work related to those projects.
In his detailed counter, Prasanth Varma denied all allegations, calling them baseless and intended to evade financial dues owed to him. He stated that Hanu-Man’s completion was delayed due to the producer’s financial constraints and that their agreement included a 50:50 profit-sharing clause, which was allegedly ignored. Despite the film’s ₹295 crore box-office success, he claimed he received only ₹7.82 crore. Prasanth accused Niranjan Reddy of breaching financial obligations and misrepresenting facts to tarnish his reputation. As both sides continue their war of words, the industry now awaits the Producer’s Council’s intervention to resolve the escalating dispute.
