Thirty-six years after its initial release, Nagarjuna's classic crime-action movie Shiva has returned to theaters in a gorgeous 4K format. Nagarjuna commemorated the momentous occasion by posting a heartfelt message on X (previously Twitter), recalling Shiva's October 5, 1989, release. "Shiva in 4K feels unaffected by time now, 36 years and 40 days later. "Life takes me back to the beginning," he wrote, referring to it as "cosmic poetry."
Shiva, he claimed, never felt like a movie that was "made," but rather one that was "gifted from the stars." It was "a piece of stardust that chose us, shaped us, and changed Indian cinema forever," according to Nagarjuna. He experienced the same enchantment while viewing the 4K remastered version, unaffected by the passage of time.
He went on to say that the film's spirit, sound, costumes, and frames are all timeless. He declared, "Shiva fell from the stars, and stardust never fades." It was like "holding that stardust once more and offering it to a new world" when it was released again. Additionally, Nagarjuna and director Ram Gopal Varma reunite with the re-release. "I was born biologically to my parents, but my true birth as a filmmaker was given by Nagarjuna," RGV said at the trailer launch to show his appreciation.
