Superstar Krishna’s grandson Jayakrishna is all set to make his debut as a lead actor with ‘Srinivasa Mangapuram’, directed by Ajay Bhupathi and produced by P. Kiran. With the film scheduled to hit theatres on July 30, Jayakrishna said the encouraging response to the trailer has added to the excitement surrounding his debut. Having trained in acting in New York before facing the camera for a full-fledged feature film, he admitted to being nervous initially but said he gradually became more comfortable during the shoot. Jayakrishna revealed that the story’s emotional depth attracted him to the project and expressed happiness over getting an opportunity to work alongside veteran actor Mohan Babu in his very first film. He also described Ajay Bhupathi as one of the finest filmmakers he knows and said the director’s appreciation of his performance gave him immense confidence.
Speaking about the Ghattamaneni family legacy, Jayakrishna said he understands the expectations that come with being Superstar Krishna’s grandson and Mahesh Babu’s nephew, but wants his own talent and artistic ability to determine his future as an actor. He recalled that Krishna encouraged him to pursue acting seriously and undergo professional training in New York, a conversation that strengthened his determination to enter cinema. Jayakrishna also revealed that Mahesh Babu advised him not to approach anything half-heartedly and to dedicate himself completely to films. Naming ‘Athadu’ as one of the movies that influenced him the most, Jayakrishna said he identifies with its reserved protagonist as he too prefers speaking less and observing more. Determined to honour his grandfather’s faith in him, the young actor said his focus now is on proving himself through hard work and performance.
