The upcoming Telugu film Goat, starring Sudigali Sudheer, has landed in controversy after its former director Narresh K Lee made a derogatory comment about the film’s heroine, Divya Bharathi. The director, who was reportedly removed from the project and has been airing his frustration on social media, referred to Divya as ‘Chilaka’ in an X comment. The actress called the remark offensive, stating that she was dragged into an unnecessary controversy despite the film progressing without him. She clarified that being called such names is degrading and not acceptable under any circumstances.
Divya further condemned the director’s behavior, claiming his misogynistic attitude was evident even on set, where he repeatedly disrespected women. She expressed disappointment that the film’s hero chose to stay silent, thereby enabling such behavior. The actress asserted that she works only in environments where women are respected. She also clarified that she has no issues with other film teams, emphasizing that this particular director crossed lines. Netizens have been widely supporting Divya, while the director continues to remain silent.
