The upcoming film Varanasi, directed by Rajamouli and starring Mahesh Babu, is being produced on a massive scale. The makers organized an elaborate event to officially announce the title, designed almost like a pre-release celebration.
However, the remarks Rajamouli made about Lord Hanuman during this event have triggered a major controversy. Several Hindu organizations expressed strong displeasure and filed complaints with the police demanding action. They are insisting that Rajamouli issue an immediate public apology for his comments.
Responding to the incident, BJP leader Chikoti Praveen criticized the director sharply, comparing his behavior to an arrogant elephant falling into a dirty stream. He questioned how Rajamouli could make such statements while simultaneously earning money by making films based on divine themes. He also raised the point that someone who claims not to believe in God should explain why he performs rituals before beginning a film.
Praveen warned that continued arrogance would only lead to Rajamouli’s downfall. With the controversy spreading rapidly, attention now turns to how Rajamouli will address these allegations.
