Bengaluru Court Restrains Online Review Bombing of The Paradise

A Bengaluru civil court has granted interim protection to The Paradise ahead of its worldwide theatrical release on September 24. The order, issued on September 19, restricts social media platforms and other online entities from hosting, publishing or circulating specific allegedly false and defamatory content identified by the film’s producer, Sri Lakshmi Venkateshwara Cinemas LLP.

The court observed that the material presented before it appeared to go beyond ordinary artistic evaluation and could affect the commercial value of the production. However, the injunction is limited to the specific URLs listed in the producer’s case. The court has made it clear that genuine public reviews and bona fide criticism of the film are not prohibited. The matter is scheduled for further hearing on October 28.
