A high alert has been issued at Indira Gandhi International Airport as precautionary health measures are being intensified following concerns over the spread of Ebola virus disease in parts of Africa. The Union Health Ministry has placed airports on alert and issued health advisories for passengers arriving from or transiting through countries such as the Democratic Republic of Congo, Uganda, and South Sudan.
According to updated guidelines from the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), passengers from affected regions are undergoing enhanced screening at airport health counters. Travelers showing symptoms are advised to report to Airport Health Officers before immigration clearance. Authorities also stated that no Ebola cases have been reported in India so far, and the measures are purely preventive. Medical experts have reassured that Ebola does not spread through air like COVID-19 and requires direct contact with bodily fluids.
