Shigella infections are causing concern in Kerala, with a growing number of cases being reported, particularly in the districts of Thiruvananthapuram and Kollam. Health authorities are closely monitoring the situation as more residents seek medical attention for symptoms associated with the bacterial infection.
According to official reports, symptoms linked to Shigella have been identified in 578 individuals across the state. Common symptoms include fever, diarrhea, abdominal pain, and vomiting. Reports also indicate that one death has been recorded in Kollam district. Health experts have advised the public to maintain proper hygiene, consume safe drinking water, and follow preventive health measures.
