Medical experts state that after the age of 40, several changes begin to occur in the human body. They explain that a slowdown in metabolism often leads to weight gain, while hormonal changes can impact both energy levels and mental well-being. At the same time, immunity tends to weaken, making the body more prone to fatigue and recurring minor health issues. Unhealthy eating habits, lack of sleep and increased stress further aggravate these conditions, experts caution.
Speaking on the matter, Professor Dr. Subhash Giri, Director of the Medical Department at RML Hospital, advised that regular medical check-ups are essential after 40 to comprehensively assess overall health. He recommended tests for blood sugar, cholesterol, blood pressure, thyroid function and vitamin levels, along with cardiac screenings if necessary. According to him, these tests help detect diseases at an early stage and enable timely treatment.
Doctors also emphasize that testing alone is not sufficient, and adopting a healthy lifestyle is equally important. A balanced diet, light exercise, yoga and walking can help maintain good physical health. Adequate sleep and stress management are also crucial. Maintaining both physical and mental well-being enables individuals to lead a healthier and more balanced life in the long term, medical experts said.
